Time and time again, I’ve encountered men professionally or personally who have lived most of their lives without ever addressing their mental health. As a collective, due to stigma, societal expectations, or the old message to “suck it up,” many have carried unspoken pain that quietly shapes their lives. I’ve seen how this avoidance can affect not only their personal growth but also their relationships - as fathers, husbands, sons, uncles, or simply as people.
That’s where I focus: helping to peel back the layers of what society says a man should or shouldn’t be, and getting to the heart of the human underneath.
When I think about mental health, I see something powerful in the words themselves: the first three letters of mental are men, and within health, there’s heal.
Men heal.
We’re just often not taught how to ask for help - and that’s where I hope to come in.
Youth have grown up in a world layered with uncertainty and pressure. From elementary school through post-secondary education, they’ve had to manage the already overwhelming demands of these age groups. While navigating the global disruption and isolation brought on by COVID. Yet in many ways, this generation is finding its voice - one that is more open, expressive, and aware of mental health than any before it. I see in them not only struggle, but also resilience and the potential for real change.
I believe there’s something deeply important about the primary populations I work with: youth, teens, and middle-aged men. If any of this has caught your interest, please feel free to click on the link provided to learn more.
