You will know your professional relationship with your counsellor is a right fit if you feel understood, heard, you feel you can trust and be open with your counsellor, and you feel supported.

All of our clinicians offer a complimentary consultation to ensure that you are comfortable with the fit before moving forward.

We invite you to visit our Team Page to learn more about our clinicians.

Therapy helps you become better equipped to cope, problem-solve, and see your presenting situation from a different perspective. Through therapy, clients acquire tools, knowledge, and skills to be applied to presenting concerns.

The time an individual, family, and/or couple spends in counselling depends on individual/family/couple needs and presenting concerns.

We strongly believe in the value of long term mental health care with ongoing check-ins. This is similar to going to the dentist to maintain good dental health before problems arise; we see mental health check-ins as a preventative measure to maintain good mental health.

Introductions, reviewing of consent/confidentiality, and forming a professional relationship with your counsellor to create a safe space for further therapy.

Yes, we see many couples and families that are not together at the time of their appointment and join from different locations and devices.

Many factors will go into determining this. We highly encourage you to speak to your therapist during your consultation about this. You and your therapist can come up with a plan that you are both comfortable with.

We have several types of practitioners at On Your Mind Counselling to cover as many insurance policies as possible. We currently offer RP and RSW services that are covered through many insurance benefits.

Registered Psychotherapists (RP) are covered under most insurance policies. It is important to inquire if RP’s are not listed under your approved providers. This has come up in the past where RP will be covered but it will not be listed, as there are so many service providers.

Where RP’s are not covered Registered Social Worker (RSW) usually are.

Check the amount of insurance you have for the year and when your benefits renew.

We do not direct bill insurance providers, however, we do provide our clients with official invoices that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Most universities provide mental health insurance benefits for undergraduate/graduate students. Connect with your school’s student resources to inquire about your student health benefit plan.
We currently offer credit card and e-transfer payments.
When possible please notify our office as soon as you know you can’t make your appointment. You can reschedule and cancel your appointment up to 24 hours in advance. We employ highly trained mental health professionals who are committed to using the most effective, evidenced-based practices in a manner that is inclusive and compassionate. Our team is dedicated to ongoing professional development to stay relevant with the newest research in psychology.

All of our registered psychotherapists and registered social workers abide by the college’s code of ethics which indicates all counselling appointments to be strictly confidential.
